How screen printing works
Screen printing is a traditional printing method going back more than 1,000 years, but modern machinery allows us to produce extremely consistent results over large production runs. The process requires a physical screen for each color in your graphic. Each screen is mounted and registered on the press, then printing begins. Because every color needs its own screen and each screen must be physically loaded with ink, the cost of an order depends on two major factors: quantity and number of colors.
What screen printing is best for
Screen printing is perfect for high-volume orders and works well on a variety of fabrics including cotton and polyester. It is capable of not only Pantone matching, but also printing a wide range of specialty inks including metallic shimmer inks, puff inks, stretch inks, and UV reactive inks.
Production capacity and turnaround
Production capacity varies depending on the number of colors, but on average, once screens are loaded and registered, we can typically produce between 100 and 500 pieces per hour on a single press. This decoration method handles orders into the thousands of pieces with no problem.
Typical turnaround is 10-21 days depending on volume and number of colors. Specialty inks that need to be ordered can extend this timeline, but most jobs are completed in 10-14 days.
Minimum order
Our screen printing minimum is 24 pieces. If your project falls below that, reach out and we can discuss whether DTF or DTG would be a better fit.
Artwork requirements
Screen printing requires high quality graphics. We suggest providing a vector AI, EPS, or PDF file. If you have a PNG at 300dpi or better and 12 inches wide (or equivalent to the requested image size), we can work with that as well. If your graphics need additional work, our in-house design team can assist.
