DTG Printing in Miami
Miami Promos offers Direct to Garment (DTG) printing for small-batch, full-color apparel orders throughout Miami-Dade and nationwide. DTG is the right choice when you need a detailed, photo-quality print without the setup cost of screen printing.
How DTG works
Direct to Garment printing is a relatively new technology that has only moved into mainstream use over the last 5-10 years. It works much like an inkjet printer, applying ink directly onto the fabric. Because DTG is digital, setup is fast compared to screen printing, which means we can print smaller orders much faster and more economically.
Without the need to physically make screens, we can switch from one graphic to the next rapidly with no significant change in setup. That makes DTG ideal for orders with multiple different designs.
What DTG is best for
DTG is best used for small sample runs, quick-turnaround event t-shirts, and smaller customized orders such as individual names and numbers. It is a strong option any time you need full color detail on a limited quantity.
Color limitations
DTG uses a CMYK ink system, so specialty effects are not available and only colors within the CMYK spectrum can be printed. DTG does not give us the ability to Pantone match, but we will always print the closest possible colors. If exact color matching is critical to your project, screen printing is usually the better method.
Production capacity and turnaround
Production capacity for DTG is around 20 pieces per hour per printer, though this varies based on the design. For that reason we typically recommend DTG for orders of 100 pieces or fewer, though there are cases where it makes sense on larger runs. Standard turnaround is 7-10 days. This can increase if apparel is shipping from a west coast warehouse or if the production run is large.

Our DTG minimum is 6 pieces.
Artwork requirements
DTG prints at 1200dpi, so high quality artwork matters. We typically prefer a PNG with a transparent background at 300dpi or better, 12 inches wide or equivalent to your print size. JPG, PDF, AI, EPS and other formats are acceptable, but some can cause problems, such as a JPG with a background that cannot be removed cleanly. Our design team can assist with preparing your graphics for the current run and any future prints.
